The internal cleanliness, chemical stability, air tightness and biological properties of butyl rubber stoppers are very good, but due to the complex formula and the concentration gradient of the added raw materials, after being encapsulated with some drugs with relatively strong molecular activity, they are blocked by the drug. Absorption, adsorption, leaching, and infiltration have resulted in the compatibility of rubber plugs with drugs. The more prominent ones are some cephalosporins, some large infusions, and many traditional Chinese medicine injection preparations. Therefore, by choosing an inert soft coating to cover the surface of the rubber stopper to isolate the direct contact between the medicine and the rubber stopper, the compatibility with the medicine can be significantly improved. By the end of 2004, all medicinal rubber stoppers (including rubber stoppers for infusion, oral liquid and other dosage forms) will stop using ordinary natural rubber stoppers; all pharmaceutical rubber stoppers must use butyl rubber stoppers.
